The Benefits of a Process Server

There are a lot of us who hate arguing. We avoid confrontation at all costs and keep our heads down when an argument breaks out.  However, sometimes, someone crosses a line so badly that there is just no choice but to take action. If you feel awkward standing up to people and telling them where they went wrong, how uncomfortable would you feel if you had to deliver papers to them, demanding court appearances? The idea is sickening to the non-confrontational. It is too bad there is not an app for that…not yet anyway.

In comes the hero of our story: the process server. A process server is just a fancy way of describing someone who does all the legal heavy lifting for your attorney.  They collect all of the legal documents you need to sign and have delivered—or served—as well as all the documents the offending party needs to have. A process server’s services extend to any kind of legal action too: a subpoena, eviction, summons, and even things like petitions. In addition, they serve any party, be it an individual or an entire business.

How cool would it be to one day get a confirmation that your boss just got served?

Once everything is said and done, the documents have been delivered, and the party informed, they send you an affidavit to inform you that the deed has been done. This saves you the terrifying task of having to come face to face with your offender and allows you enough time to discuss with your attorney just how much money you can probably get out of them. Best of all, it provides you and your attorney peace of mind knowing things were done right.

So next time you want someone to be served—or you are the one being served—consider for a moment the unsung heroes of our court system, the ones who go where no one else wants to go and do the things most of us find too awkward (or too dangerous) to do ourselves: the brave process servers!
